The Sutherland Sabres were all business in their opening round matchup against Rockridge in the late game of the AAA Howe Sound Championship. Sutherland came out shooting the three ball, hitting five in the first quarter (including 4 by Player of the Game Braden Toikka) to take a 25-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Sabres did not sit back, holding Rockridge to 2 points in the second quarter and took a 43-12 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The teams traded baskets through the second half and Sutherland cruised to a 70-40 victory in the opening round of the Howe Sounds.
Graddy Zubaidi led all scorers with 21 points while Braden Toikka finished with 12 points for the Sabres.
Sutherland will now play WIndsor in their second round matchup on Monday while Rockridge will play Carson Graham.
